O/W Pickering emulsion stabilized by magnesium carbonate particles for drug delivery systems

This study investigates the formulation of surfactant-free Pickering emulsions that release a drug at specific pH to improve its oral bioavailability. The stabilizing particles composed magnesium carbonate particles. oil-in-water stabilized with and encapsulating hydrophobic model (ibuprofen) were formulated using high-energy process rotor-stator turbo mixer (IKA® T25 digital ultra-Turrax). experimental approach explored impact all parameters, dispersed phase amount on physicochemical properties emulsions. O/W emulsion was characterized by methylene blue test, conductivity measurements, droplet size determination. In addition, have advantage being destabilized in acidic medium leading active principle via droplets. (pH equal 1.2) showed ibuprofen as function initial loading saturation concentration. simulated intestinal 6.8, we found better from already had an acid medium. Thus, interest these lies fact their non-toxicity allow destabilization drug. These not only protect patients side effects acid-based drugs, but also contribute increase bioavailability drugs.
